Job Description
Lead the design and implementation of a consolidated real-time database system for BBC Media Action's Nigeria office, managing data from multiple projects with a focus on ETL pipelines and data governance.
What you will be doing?
- Design, build, and maintain central databases/data warehouses using PostgreSQL or Azure SQL with optimized indexing, querying, and scalability
- Develop and manage ETL pipelines using Python to ingest, clean, transform, and harmonize data from surveys, digital analytics, social listening, and partner submissions
- Ensure data quality, governance, and security including role-based access, GDPR compliance, and prepare datasets for Power BI dashboards
Who You Are
- Strong experience designing relational databases or data warehouses with PostgreSQL or Azure SQL, and advanced SQL skills including performance tuning
- Expertise in building and optimizing ETL pipelines using Python, with experience handling social listening data and SPSS survey datasets
- Ability to design well-labelled, structured databases with standardized schemas, metadata, and experience with near real-time data pipelines at scale
