I am driven by a thirst for making informed decisions. Without the ability to interpret and make sense of data, meaningful progress is unattainable.
“The core advantage of data is that it tells you something about the world that you didn’t know before.” - Hilary Mason, data scientist, founder, and CEO of Fast Forward Labs.
My journey has been driven by a deep passion for the transformative power of data in solving complex challenges. Growing up in Nigeria for over two decades, I witnessed firsthand the impact of resource management and policy decisions on societal progress—all of which underscore the importance of actionable insights derived from data. These experiences have motivated me to contribute meaningfully to the digital evolution that is reshaping our world.
Although I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Criminology and Security Studies, my curiosity about the field of data analytics and science began during my undergraduate studies. Taking two Statistics courses in my third year sparked a passion for understanding data beyond the surface. This curiosity deepened while working on my final-year project, where I conducted both qualitative and quantitative analysis. That experience showed me just how indispensable data is in driving sound, evidence-based decisions, regardless of the scale or segment.
After graduation and completing my mandatory service year, my passion led me to Resagratia’s 12-week Data Analysis Bootcamp. I found the program through an ad on X (formerly Twitter), and the comprehensive curriculum was too promising to ignore. Calling the experience enriching would be an understatement—it was transformative.
Before the program, I was a beginner in the data space. However, by the time I completed the modules, I had acquired valuable tools and skills that have since proved vital. The program introduced me to tools such as Power BI, Tableau, and SQL, significantly strengthening my technical foundation and improving my analytical capabilities. Beyond the technical training, it instilled in me a disciplined, solution-oriented approach to data challenges. The hands-on projects and collaborative environment built my confidence and broadened my perspective on how data can unlock opportunities in diverse fields.
My performance in the program saw me graduate with honors, earning an invitation to interview for the dual role of Data and Operations Intern and Teaching Assistant. In this role, I have had the privilege of working with a diverse cohort of participants from different academic and professional backgrounds. The diversity within the cohort honed my communication skills and fostered adaptability, allowing me to support students effectively, regardless of the unique challenges they faced.
A core aspect of my role involved facilitating weekly mentorship sessions where I guided participants and encouraged active participation. On the operations side, I was granted administrative access to Resagratia's platform and a 3-month data science boot camp, which allowed me to further expand my skill set to include tools like Google Sheets and Python.
One memorable moment during this journey was a one-on-one session with Co-Founder Geovanni, where he asked me a simple yet profound question: What is my ‘why’? That question challenged me to reflect deeply on my motivations. My answer was clear—I am driven by a thirst for making informed decisions. Without the ability to interpret and make sense of data, meaningful progress is unattainable.
I firmly believe that data skills are no longer optional; they are the bedrock of decision-making in a world that is rapidly evolving into a global digital village. From national policy formulation to grassroots initiatives, data allows organizations and individuals to identify trends, solve problems, and create solutions that matter.
Additionally, in my role as a Front Office Manager at Trustlub Fluid Resources, I applied tools such as Microsoft Excel and Power BI to streamline data analysis processes and improve operational efficiency. This reaffirmed the practical value of data skills in driving productivity and strategic decision-making.
At the heart of data analytics and science lies curiosity and a love for learning—finding patterns, telling stories, and deepening our understanding of the world. Although the path may be challenging, it is deeply rewarding as it equips you with the skills to make meaningful progress in any role or capacity.
