Internship curriculum and responsibilities

Interns will learn key concepts in data cleaning, data analysis, data science, data reporting, and community engagement. The Data Aspect:

1. Advanced Data Courses: For the 3-month internship, a roadmap is given to the intern to serve as a guide to the activities the intern is expected to do weekly. The purpose of advanced learning is to solidify the knowledge that the intern has from a previous data bootcamp (data analytics or data science bootcamp) before a data internship and also build projects that showcase his technical skills and prove that he is job-ready.

The intern will make use of industrial-standard tools such as Python, SQL, Google Sheets, and Tableau for learning. There are valuable and advanced courses that will be covered with those tools within the 3 months of the internship.

2. Projects: Each month of the internship, the intern is expected to build at least one project, that is, two assigned projects on two specific tools and one personal project of choice. A timeline is given for the project submission, and a mentor will make corrections concerning your project.

This project can be kept for future use as a portfolio to showcase your skills and job readiness.

3. Creation of Tutorial Videos: The intern also creates tutorial videos for the Resagratia YouTube page. This is to provide a good illustration of how to navigate the dashboard for a better learning experience.

The Operations Aspect:

Here is the list of operational activities the intern is expected to carry out:

1. Community Support on Discord: This is one of the major activities of an intern. The intern will support our growing community on Discord. The students for the bootcamp are in cohort; therefore, an intern helps to support a cohort as a Teaching Assistant. The intern has to be accessible and ready to assist any student with questions about Bootcamp or with any technical difficulty navigating their dashboard. In a situation where the challenge is beyond them, the intern will alert the program managers for further support.

2. Resource curation and sharing: It is the responsibility of an intern to curate weekly resources and share them with the students in the cohort he/she is supporting on the Discord channel. This resource can be obtained from the Resagratia blog site and will serve as additional reading for a better understanding of the topic taught for the week.

3. Weekly Trivia Quiz: Based on the topics covered for the week, an intern has to create trivia questions for students to access their knowledge of what was covered. This will also improve the student's communication skills through the channel and help them bond among themselves.

4. Weekly Follow-Up: There will be a weekly follow-up of the students by the intern to see if there is anyone who encounters any challenges with the lessons or recorded absences for a weekly quiz and encourage them to put in more effort the following week. The intern can cheer on those who have been consistent with their learning.

5. Weekly bootcamp report: the intern is required to submit a visual and brief report from the follow-up he/she carried out to assess the student's performance for the week.

6. Project Coordination: towards the end of the program, the intern is expected to coordinate a team’s project among the students he/she supports via Discord. The students will be assigned to teams and given datasets to work on by the intern.

The students will present this project to the judges, who will assess their performance. The intern is expected to guide and follow through with the students for the success of their team’s project. This project coordination will build their leadership skills, technical skills, and ability to manage a team.
